Yet, this is also a time where bands release some of the most impressive debut records in quite a while. Nadyrr is one of those, and Descente de Nihil is remarkable. Highly melodic and engaging atmospheric black metal, abundant in aggression, fury and dynamicism. A fresh and more than relevant contribution to an allegedly stagnating subgenre. Do not miss out! Ippocalyptica If anything this year tops Descente de Nihil as the best debut black metal album, I will be mightily shocked. Nadyrr has created an absolute monster here, presenting us with highly-dynamic atmospheric black metal through the coldest and bleakest prism you could imagine. And as if these four compositions were not already engaging enough, Nadyrr was kind enough to provide the instrumental versions for good measure, which, if anything, only underscores the potency of the vocals. Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! La traversée du désert n'aura pas duré quarante jours mais quatre longues années... Avec Панихида, Батюшка renaît enfin de ses cendres et, bien que désormais seul (ou plus exactement entouré de deux chanteurs), Христофор accomplit un miracle. Il s'inscrit dans la continuité de Литоургиiа avec un black metal orthodoxe qui nous convie ici à une cérémonie dédiée aux morts. Sa vision est englobante : les mélodies, la gravité et le silence font toucher le paradis ; l'agressivité est luciférienne. Jordan Vauvert
